|Bing vs Google with Panda update|
| 2:20 pm on Mar 5, 2012 (gmt 0)|
I have been testing Bing search and image for a Month now, also several people I know, have only used Bing and sometimes compared the keyword on a google search, ALL say there is now much difference in quality since Panda got to Google search/image. Personally I also use Bing more and more, I would say now 80% goes on Bing with satisfaction.
Google just have to much, hmm how can i say this, non interesting sites on the first 3 pages, also I see to many images, video, news bla bla in the google search which getting on my nerves, be cause if i want image, videos, news they have a page for that, so why stuff the search with it.

I have also have been giving Bing a run and generally find it quite satisfactory. For all of Google's touting regarding simplicity, the first page returns on Google now look quite cluttered and unappealing. More often than not it is the same old predictable big brands that dominate even when my search query isn't related to seeking a product per se.
Ixquick, is another search engine I have been trialling.

I started off with ixquick a couple of years ago, then ran startpage for a year-ish - that's ixquick's sister SE. Then I discovered it was using G as one of the metas. I'm now back to ixquick with bing as a seconday "backup".
Yandex is also getting better. Occasionally I've used duckduckgo but they have now added meta results to their own gatherings.
Haven't used G (apart from "base", now dumped) for a couple of years and I don't miss it. My wife reluctantly uses it occasionally to check on customers' ratings.

I've been doing a lot of webmaster related searches lately. PHP, mysql, apache... looking for people have solved problems I'm seeing.
I find myself looking on page 3 and 4 for information constantly. I tried Bing for yucks, and much to my surprise the results were better. Correct answer was typically on the first page.
I'm surprised how bad Google is right now, I was directed to one post forums, malware sites, even parked domains. I mean krap. I don't know what the problem is over there at Google, but someone needs to sweep up this mess.

im not a huge fan of google, and would definitely like Bing to catch them up, but there are some things on bing that worry me a bit. when it comes to helping out webmasters, in some ways they are even worse than google.
if you search for a famous attraction like "madame tussauds", for example, (it doesnt work for all attractions), then they seem to be placing sponsored info from frommers (a well-known travel company) at the top of the page -- even above the official site.
its not in the form of an advert. and it blends in totally with the serps. although it does have a slightly different layout to the SERPs. but why are they promoting Frommers in this way? (there is a little snippet of green text underneath which says "Attractions data by Frommers"). its almost like a paid listing. And it appears above loads and loads of places, so it is obviously a deliberate placement.
google do something similar with their own place pages, of course. but at least they have shifted it over to the right of the page -- so the official page still appears at the top of the SERPs.
so when it comes to helping out webmasters, i think Bing are actually worse than google in some issues. because they appear to be promoting certain companies above all the others.

I do the test for different keywords at the same time on google and Bing and they really look a lot a like, 1-2 bad urls which dont fit on the 1-3 pages on bing els you get more info and results like on google also be cause google stuff there searches with news, videos, tweet bla bla. I am impressed how close bing has come on to google, if its be cause google results have gotten worse the last years time I can not say, but the same is for google image.
