I'm seeing a lot of Bing referrals in my logs right now. Most of the search result referrals I'm checking out aren't actually showing results that I'm on the page I've gotten the referral from. This is huge, since I've never seen that many real people coming in from Bing over such a short period before.
Even though I'm nowhere close, Bing thinks I'm in the Netherlands for the past hour.. but before that, I was getting (correct) New York results.
Strangely, before they thought I was in the Netherlands, I was seeing a lot of Wikipedia results. Now that they think I'm in NL, they show absolutely nothing from wiki.
In case anyone is wondering, my IP hasn't changed (since I logged into my NYC VPN a few hours ago).

Its been about 4 hours - you still seeing traffic from the Netherlands? And is your site targeting new York/US specifically, or is that where the server is physically located?

Hey bingdude, great to see you reply so quickly.
I actually never saw traffic from the Netherlands, just that I was supposedly there for 'een beetje' and (Bing thinks that I) still am :) I don't target New York State or New York City at all specifically (I am just located there). Canada and the U.S. are my main audience and our servers are located in Dallas, New York and Montréal.
edit: I was going to ask you if you were recruited from Waterloo, but a quick search said you're from NS :) A lot of us there in Redmond eh!

OK, let me see if I understand this:
You're not Dutch, you're Canadian posing as an American.
Your website is not in the Netherlands, yet you enjoy mayonaise with your fries.
...and Bing was saying we'd sent you traffic on words from the Netherlands.
Did I get 1/3 correct? ;)

Haha, not exactly :) All seems to be back to normal, but I actually prefer vinegar on my fries!
I was getting Dutch results in the U.S. Not that I have anything against Americans (I love most of them!), I am in fact Canadian.
When I posted the original message, I was actually seeing a huge increase in visitors from Bing, but it has settled down now.
