Since Microsoft does have a financial interest in Facebook it's a natural business model "bolt on" extension.
I think Bing has got it going on with this [discoverbing.com]. This isn't a browser extension, it's a business extension.

That is actually old news. The new personalized results news is that Bing is personalizing based on searcher location and previous searches.

So create a massive facebook following or don't set up an account at all. A tiny following may be poisonous :-)
