I get good results in bing.co.uk , and see that they are using ciao.co.uk as their 'shopping' search engine in the UK. Is anyone here a merchant on ciao.co.uk and is it worth it? I'd be very grateful for any advice.

Quite interesting! It looks as if Bing and Ciao have partnered From ciao.co.uk Why are you modifying your brand?
We are changing our branding to "Ciao from Bing" as Ciao's shopping community and consumer reviews will play an integral part in Microsoft's new search engine Bing.com. You might also notice new links in the header which allow you to search the new Bing for web results, images, news or other results and directly access MSN.

One of the importaint aspects of Ciao was its user reviews. Members are rewarded for reviews and earn per read. The quality is generaly good. I can see why Bing would partner with them. Mack.
