Site vanished from Serps
Was number 1

 6:57 pm on Dec 12, 2007 (gmt 0)

All I have now are just one page and that no longer ranks.

Ive done nothing to upset it as no updates to the site were done, all very weird.

Any ideas?

There is a few uf us with similar experiences
not a lot of people care enough to notice i think but that extra trickle of traffic can add up.

Go to [webmaster.live.com...] and sign up. You can post there where MSNLive Team actually responds to problems.

Many of us lost our sites in October after they launched the new Algo. Our sites are fine...it's the Algo with bugs to work out. I would not change anything on my site right now.

Suggest you get your site validated with their webmastertools and keep up with those posts. You can also submit your site for manual review if like.

Yeah , i did that 2 weeks ago ( played roullette with the robots.txt validator) and afterwards contacted them. They were actually very quick to reply and stated they fixed a technical issue and if not indexed properly after 2 weeks to let them know.
It is a good sign they at least are taking time to respond to some of the webmasters that contact them, Yahoo did as well recently.
The most consistent thing ive noticed is there are lots of authority sites that are usually top ten in Yahoo Google and Ask in the dark recesses with all fluff at the top except a few.
Right now I'd be happy just to be back there with them, at least you have a chance of climbing up again.

main site is gone..

i just registered my site with their webmater tools...

i also put my robots.txt in their validator and got the error:

Warning: 'sitemap' - tag isn't specified.

User-agent: *
Disallow: /addons/
Disallow: /include/
Disallow: /install-/
Disallow: /newsletter/
Disallow: /NHMweb/

anyone got insight?

They've got another bot besides MSNBot that they're using that doesn't honor robots.txt

Warning: 'sitemap' - tag isn't specified. ... anyone got insight?

They want to see this:

Sitemap: [YOURDOMAIN.com...]

User-agent: *

HOw are you so sure?

If that isnt shown are they deleting or demoting your site?

 1:55 am on Dec 15, 2007 (gmt 0)

I was simply replying to your robots validator message -- that should have nothing to do with your site being gone. Seeing the site disappear has unfortunately happened to many of us, and has been said, is almost certainly the result of a screwed up algo, which means that it's nothing you did and thus there's nothing you can do to fix things.

Well, in any case im finally back in the top 5....

#4 to be exact for my main key phrase....

so something went screwy there for a quick second...

has anyone else recovered?

 3:42 pm on Dec 18, 2007 (gmt 0)

Yea, looks like they are going the way of Yahoo and getting worse instead of better. I see some really crappy results to be sure. I guess MSN and Yahoo simply cannot get it figured out...

 9:05 pm on Dec 18, 2007 (gmt 0)

I dont think any SE has it figured out...

Whos to say google is right?
Whos to say Yahoo is right?
MSN who?

Its whatever they think is right.

Which obviously isnt what we think should be right.
