Punished by association?

Like most folks here we have numerous websites, in our case a couple dozen. All of them get good crawling from the major 3 search engines and most of them get decent SERPs. All of these are legitimate sites -- no "made for ads" or link farms or black hat stuff.

3 of the sites however are not getting proper crawling or indexing from MSN, and the only thing they have in common is they are all located on the exact same server at the hosting service that we are using (none of our other sites at this particular host are located on that server number). This has been going on for quite some time.

Is it possible that the MSNbot is ignoring ALL websites on a particular server because, for example, someone somewhere has a spam/black hat domain being hosted on that same server? (someone with whom we have NO relationship whatsoever!).

That doesn't seem fair, but it's the only connection I can see right now :(

Is that even a possibility?
