Our New Webmaster Portal and an Invitation to the Private Beta
Shortly after that day in March when we had to take the “link:” operator offline, a small team was formed in Redmond. Its singular focus: to build the next-generation set of tools, content and resources for SEO professionals and webmasters (and get “link:” back in your hands). Creatively named Webmaster Portal (we’re really good at marketing), it will be a single, friendly place to find all tools and information relating to Live Search SEO. Initially we’ll support these scenarios:

Troubleshooting tools to ensure MSNBot is effectively crawling and indexing your site

Sitemap creation, submission and ping tools

Statistics about your website

Consolidation of content submission resources

New content and community resources

Thanks JonW for finding this notice from MS -- I've been wondering when they'd finally get their webmaster tools ready. Hope it works correctly out of the gate!

Sounds like a good move from Live - I have been getting a fair increase in traffic from Live lately so hopefully these tools could help me get more :)

MSN traffic has increased over the last couple of months for me as well. I have put it down to MSN appearing to index new pages on established sites much quicker than Google. But that may just be for my site.

With the new tools they are definitely doing good. Is this the start of a trend? It must have cost them a pile of $ to develop the SEO tools.

I just got the e-mail and accepted it. I signed up all my sites and where I work. I do not know the URL of it yet, they just have you sign up right now is all. I'll check back in and let you all know how goes it.

:)

It appears to me that they will just pick a sample of those who provided profile details rather than let everyone in, even though the latter is more likely if too few people actually signed up.
