Hello,

I'm new here - so maybe my question is already answerred somewhere - please point to me.

MSN.com (live.com) and Yahoo displays different results if you search in different regions. So they somehow determine which pages are better display for me in my region.
Any ideas how do they determine the region of the page?

My ideas that it could be:
1) Page have specific meta tag "charset=iso-8859-1" for different language the tag is different.
2) The region of the IP of the site, which contains this page.
3) SE tracks who is most often visitors on the site (how?) and then correspond the site to the area, where most visitors come from.
Any other ideas or any suggestions on mine ideas?
