Browser hijacking in Australia?

Just opened IE on my PC, but any address I typed in the URL bar I was alway redirected to the address of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Geologists (CAPG), with a poll asking me what I think about the mining industry.

The home page field in the options is ok, the configuration seems fine, security level medium-high, I do not understand how this is possible.

Opening another tab let me visit any other website, but the first tab always redirect me to that website.

Any other browser on the same PC is OK, I rarely use IE and probably last time I used it was more than 1 month ago.

Any idea on how this is possible?
