browser back button stops |

In testing a website with over 200 pages tonight on IE 8 the back button stopped working. I was proofing on my local disk. I closed the browser - reopened and finished.
When I tested live the same thing. I deleted the browser history - but it didn't help. The resolve was: close the browser - reopen. Since I wasn't counting I don't know how many times it allows me to go back.
Anyone else experiencing this? (I saw a post from May 2010 here, but they said the fix was coming "shortly", so assume this is a new issue, again.)
How can I workaround this without closing the browser?

You mentioned clearing browser history, but did you also flush the cache?

Thanks for your suggestion. I looked into Options and see history was set to 50 MB. Imagine that was the problem, now.
