'Cortana': More on Microsoft's next-generation personal assistant

Microsoft is working on its 'Cortana' rival to Apple's Siri and Google Now, which will be integrated into all flavors of Windows in the future.

The successor to clippy ?

Can't help but noticing it's yet another "me too" from MSFT. And a late one at that.

While I do have a few iOS devices, Siri: I've not yet found it useful in any way. One sure looks like a moron standing in a street shouting to their phone that just won't pick up their accent.
And the one case where it would make sense: while driving a car - well the stupid thing doesn't answer in voice - it answers in text which you have to read - the one thing you should not do in such a use-case.

To me all of this is still as useful in real life as the talking parrot was that was included with my very first sound baster card: fun for an hour or two - then forgotten to never try again.

Even if one has a voice interface that really worked - the search and understanding of what we look for is still years from returning useful results in all cases.
