I decided to take a closer look at Bootstrap given the good comments it got here lately. Smashed right into a semantics wall, so to speak: when they say "Install" or "Compile" - what are they talking about? Install on a development PC or on the production server (which could be any number of combinations of OS/httpd/permission issues galore etc.) I would not want to keep these libraries writable to the world, so I am hoping they are talking about development machine. But what's confusing is that I don't get which parts then will have to be transferred to the production server?

More to the point, if you are OK with the standard set of functions and the color schemes (else why would you bother with a framework in the first place?), are you able to skip all the installing and compiling and messing with Bower and Less etc. and start using the framework by including only these two CDN'ed files into the header:

[netdna.bootstrapcdn.com...]
[netdna.bootstrapcdn.com...]

(JQuery, too, since it's a dependency)

Does bootstrap.min.js need any other file from that huge directory tree you get when you download Bootstrap?

Thanks!
