I've been looking at Virtual PC 2007 as an alternative to VMWare to test out the Windows Server 2008, but I am running xp home and vista home, and the system requirements for VPC are along the lines of the professional versions. Do you think its possible to run the installer and application under compatibility mode? Has anyone tried it?

Have you tried installing it? If so what was the error message it returned?
I think it may install. But I don't think Microsoft will support it on home version of vista or xp. They have it targeted towards professionals who will be using it to test there Operating system's for later use. (Professional in their mind buy the more expensive os) Its one of the ways they nudge you to buy upgrades.
