"I have a laptop that i want to network with an xp desktop at my house.
The xp desktop has a direct CAT5 connection to the DSL router. The wireless xp is in the other room. I just want to do basic file and printer sharing?
Can these communicate and if so, does anyone have directions or a link to resources?
I havent spent much time with vista, so the tools are a bit different.... "
"That shouldn't be a problem at all. Just try it out first without the Windows firewall in place because I've found that can often be the problem. "
I tried with the Firewalls turned off, and still it would not work for printer and file sharing. Only Internet sharing is working.
