Windows Vista is out and they have this new feature called gadgets. They are little programs that sit on a toolbar that defaults to the right side of the screen. MS has a gallery where they list the gadgets. It is not very hard to keep yourself at the top of the list. I had one made by gadgetspark and in just a few days I have had over 1500 downloads. My feedburner stats show almost 400 subscribers and this is a brand new blog.

What language are gadgets written in? Can you take existing php or perl code or dot net or java and convert it into a gadget? Is there an SDK or something? I think there is good potential for the gadget idea, but hope at the same time these gadgets are not spyware bots or anything.. hopefully vista security is in place to mitigate the risk.

David: Many thanks for the mention.
DumpedbyG: Why you would want to use a generator made for OSX widgets to attempt to make vista sidebar gadgets I don't know. You can use a program that builds an ultra simple gadget all you like. The Gadgets that users keep on their desktop will be interactive and dynamic.
Let's see... Which is going to make you more money?
