I am pulling my hair out here, is there anyway to turn off thumbnail views in all folders? Explorer keeps crashing when viewing folders with large movie files, I don't even have time to right click > change view before it crashes .

Go up one level (or more) from where the trouble starts, or even to the top of the drive's directory structure. Select a non-thumbnail view for the folder at that level. Then use Tools->Folder Options->View and click the "Apply to all folders" button.
