File Compare between Ext HD and MBP

I've recently purchased an external hard drive and in the process of migrating content. I want to make sure all files were migrated before deleting them. Is there a utility to help? Would rather not go through the entire process again.

Don't want to compare content of the file but to make sure the actual file lives on the external hard drive.

Appreciate any help

Could you tell us what you are migrating? Is it an OS or just files? Also, is it from an older external drive and you just want to transfer everything to the new one? Will this be a boot drive?

Thanks for the response. I'm trying to migrate photos from the local hard drive to the external.
It will not be a boot drive, additional space was needed.

Thanks in advance

I would think that just copying the folders that hold all of the photo files would do the trick? Are you thinking that you need to tell iPhoto or some other app that the files now reside in another location?
