Natty Narwhal Navigation Not Nice
Latest Ubuntu interface complaint

 1:37 pm on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)

Anybody else update to 11.04 yet? I'm finding the overlay scrollbar a little buggy. Anybody know of any way to change the default vertical scroll action on desktop interface windows?

This looks to be the future direction for now and it is a nice feature when it works properly. There is an option during login to change the load version.

I have it, I tried Ubuntu 11, then Xubuntu and also Lubuntu. I'm with Lubuntu now on my laptop. Anyway on Ubuntu you can go to login settings and configure the interface you want for your user (classic, effects, etc).

This new version is nice, but I liked more the little space needed for lubuntu.

System ---> Administration ---> Login Screen. Unlock and change:

'Ubuntu as default session' to 'Ubuntu Classic (No Effects) as default session'

I tried it on my netbook a ways back and it was a big disaster. Very hard to navigate and more like a Microsoft style operating system in that it was harder to modify the interface than typical Ubuntu versions - there were certain things you couldn't modify (can't remember what they are now, but something to do with the menus) unless, perhaps you were a real techie, which we weren't. We ended up reinstalling the previous version. Unless there are fixes, we'll avoid it as long as possible on all our machines...which may not be long enough. :(
