I guess this is the reverse of this question:

I want to automatically convert a few short files a week to small mp3 files to be downloaded. I'm on a shared CentOS server, so I don't have root access to build stuff, but if it came to it, I could get a tiny vps or something just for this.
I found a third party service that will do this, but they want $1,200 a year for an hour a month of speech. Yeah.
So any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is an area I'm actually interested in myself and would like to hear if there has been any progress. Did you find a solution for your text to speech problem or are you still searching?
