reverse IP lookup

Hi there,

I'm running a linux dedicated server.
I have one shared IP address and 3 dedicated ones.

I'm planning on launchaing a new website but I want to hide it from my competitors.

I know that on a shared IP you can do a reverse IP lookup to find out what domains are running there. Question: is there a way to hide it?
If not: if I buy new dedicated IP address, is there a way to find out if the IP belongs to me (runs on my box)?

what would you advise?

thanks.

You should certainly be able to get your hosting service to set a PTR to the domain you are using. If they won't do that, move to someone that will.
