msg:3772579 | 8:08 am on Oct 24, 2008 (gmt 0) | I am having a few problems with dedicated server Linux Dedicated Server ( Q6600 ), 4GB RAM, 2 x 160GB, Linux - centOS 5.x, cPanel and config server firewall I have been looking around for experts in this field and have been quoted £85 (about $170 p/hr) for an expert to take a look at my server, do an overall check of settings and security. I have no idea whether that is competitive or not and would like to ask here if anyone here has any reccomendations with regards support for such a server. Any advice would be much appreciated.

When I was a freelance consulting for about 2 years before working where I do now. When I was freelancing I charged between $50-75/hr as I had only 1-2 years experience. I would say in the US rates around $75-125 are common for basic services and up to $200/hr for advanced services. Really just depends on the company, the person, and the process.
