|vim: don't show last file edited above shell prompt|
| 8:54 am on Jan 14, 2008 (gmt 0)|
on our new server, everytime i exit from vim, the last file remains on my screen above the shell prompt. on our previous one it disappeared and i was able to see my last commands.
i can't find any setting in .vimrc which is different. does anyone know how to disable this?

I believe it depends more on your terminal characteristics and termcap than on any particular vi[m] settings.
Just type 'clear' or the equivalent at the shell, or use your terminal's 'clear scrollback' feature if leaving stuff on the screen is a problem.

my eyes glazed over looking at /etc/termcap ;) the clear tip is a good one.
