| Do image hotlinks have any link value?

After reading some discussions about how to stop people from hotlinking to images on websites, I started to think about the number of images on my site that are "grabbed" every day. It's a significant number.
It would be too time-consuming to make changes to every image file name on the site, so the only solution would be to use a server-side block for hotlinking.
However, I'm wondering if hotlinks have any link value. I've seen some show up in link: searches on Google and Yahoo.
Any ideas?
