will varying anchor text help SERPs?

 6:24 pm on Feb 26, 2010 (gmt 0)

Currently I am doing link building for my site by writing articles with backlinks. I have chosen one key phrase per page and am using the same key phrase as anchor text for the particular page. Will this be fine or should I vary anchor text ? If at all I need to vary anchor text how I should go about ? Please someone advise. Thanks in advance.

You should vary it. Too many with the same exact text can cause you to drop in rankings.

Are you referring to articles on your site or others?

For article submissions to other websites, whos purpose it is to influence anchor, it's good vary anchor text.

If you don't already have one, construct a list of permutations off your primary phrase. Use these to vary up your anchor text.
