|2088:|| Becoming Search Engine Algo-Proof |
Every two years Google throws in a big change to their algo. They pick the latest thing they don't like and blow the crap out of a bunch of sites. Lots of people get hit.[br][br]This process scares the bejeepers out of me. In fact, I lived in fear of the algo for years to the point I wouldn't even meddle in anything less than pure.[br][br]I've attempted to make my main site resistant to algo changes. Initially this started out by being whitehat, that's no longer the case. I'm not blackhat, I simply do what works now, and what I expect to work in the future.

|2091:|| Google Loses Italian Autocomplete Defamation Case|
"On Tuesday, lead counsel Carlo Piana wrote on his blog that the Court of Milan has upheld its earlier decision to order Google to filter out libellous search suggestions. These are the suggestions that pop up in Google's search input bar, proposing what the user might be wanting to search for. [br][br]People searching via Google for Piana's client, who remains publicly unnamed, were apparently presented with autocomplete suggestions including truffatore ("con man") and truffa ("fraud").[br][br]Google lost its bid to claim the protection of the E-Commerce Directive's safe harbour provisions, which partly shields hosting and ISPs from liability for content held on or transmitted over their systems. However, the court viewed the autocomplete suggestions as being produced by Google itself."

|2099:|| Microsoft Files Complaint With EU Commission Over Google's Dominance|
As troubling as the situation is in United States, it is worse in Europe. That is why our filing today focuses on a pattern of actions that Google has taken to entrench its dominance in the markets for online search and search advertising to the detriment of European consumers.[br][br]How does it do this? Google has built its business on indexing and displaying snippets of other organizations' Web content. It understands as well as anyone that search engines depend upon the openness of the Web in order to function properly, and it's quick to complain when others undermine this. Unfortunately, Google has engaged in a broadening pattern of walling off access to content and data that competitors need to provide search results to consumers and to attract advertisers.

I'm running a Joomla! website and I'm experiencing some performance issues.[br][br]I ran into this problem a while ago and after extensive testing the host figured out it was an issue with the hard-drive combined with a CPU that couldn't cope and to low memory. So they gave me a new server with a new hard-drive, twice the CPU power and twice the memory. It's a VDS in a cluster setup, so it should be able to "run" my website.[br][br]My website performed OK then, not great but it's a "big" site, sort off... 6 languages/different front-pages, around 3500 pages. So I figured it was as good as it was going to get back then.[br][br]Fast forward a year and my website is slow again. And by slow I mean, if I use host-tracker.com to check the average load times. I get an average load time of around 4 seconds....[br][br]What I did so far:
