Of the total, about 12,500 professional and factory positions will be eliminated through synergies and strategic alignment of the Nokia Devices and Services business acquired by Microsoft on April 25.

We do not expect the impairment charge to affect OSD's ongoing business or financial performance.[br][br]Excluding the $6.2 billion goodwill impairment charge, OSD operating loss decreased $266 million or 36pct, due to higher revenue and lower cost of revenue and sales and marketing expenses.
