| jquery autocomplete json example not working

I've tried this on my home server and test server but neither are working with the 2nd example using json
[jqueryui.com...]
When you download the jquery ui package, the demos are included in the zip but the one for remote json does not work.
any ideas?

it seems that when the search.php file is set like [website.com...] it does not work but if it is local, it works
