JavaScript prevents footer from being moved?

Hi all,

I've been using an absolute layout (two sidebars absolute, middle static) JavaScript to calculate the length of my 3 columns so the footer could be properly placed beneath all three. I've had some success but now the problem is whenever I use Ajax or a script that expands/collapses certain features, it doesn't move the footer like it did before. The footer now acts like it's absolute as well (even though I've set its position to either static or relative in CSS) The footer DOES move in IE6, but not in Firefox or IE7.

Any suggestions on what I should look at it? I havent posted code yet because I wasnt sure what needed to be looked at, but I hope someone has an idea of why this has been happening. :-)
