MasterPages (.NET) and Dreamweaver CS4 : Can it be done?

Msg#: 4148798 posted 1:15 pm on Jun 8, 2010 (gmt 0)

I am working on an ASP.NET site with a MasterPage. It's my first MasterPage and that is the option I have to go with...but from what I can see there is no way to edit a MasterPage in Dreamweaver CS4 as a WYSIWYG, unless I'm missing something.

Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Hello Chris,

I have to admit our designers try to steer clear of dreamweaver with dotnet, normally using just notepad or the mac version of notepad, but if you are using a windows based machine Microsoft Expression Web 4 is an excellent WYSIWYG editor for dotnet sites.

If you do stick with dreamweaver use a source control as when opening aspx files it sometimes trys to change things that have caused our pages to break before.

Thanks for the info...basically what I've been doing is using Dreamweaver for the design/layout then using MS Visual Web Dev 2010 Express for the coding. So far its working OK. I do a few sites in ASP.NET but most are in PHP which I stay in Dreamweaver for.
