Mac DW CS4 / Templates and Background Images

Hello. I have applied a template to my website. However, I'd like to use a different background image for the maincontent div on each of my pages. Currently, DW updates each page to the same image, even when I try to apply the image to a specific page and not the actual template. "maincontent" is an editable region.

I tried to make the whole page editable by highlighting my container and making it an editable region, but the spry nav menu gets in the way. I'm told to lock it, but I don't know how.

This seems like the wrong way to go about this anyways.

I've also considered creating a new div for each page and applying each of them to the page directly, instead of the css.layout external sheet I'm using.

It seems like it shouldn't be this hard, and with limited experience I'm not sure it will work.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your help.
