does any one know or have opinion on html/wysiwyg editors that can load php code into source area AND NOT make it add additional characters when ftp'ing file?
looking for one paid or otherwise.

Not sure what you mean, are you referring to the BOM (Byte Order Mark) ?

Editplus, Editpad, Typepad, and a whole variety of others can be used.

I get the feeling those are more text editors rather than WYSIWYG editors. They'd certainly be safer to use if you wanted to maintain the integrity of the source though...
How is Expression Web's handling of PHP these days? I haven't upgraded to the latest version, but I recall some PHP editing issues.
