Dreamweaver path problem with subdomains.
Relative versus Absolute path problem

I don't know if I can explain this properly but I'll try!

I am working on a website which has a main website on its domain and ten subdomains on each of which sits a mini website. This arrangement has got me into a kind of catch 22 situation with DW.

I am using a common stylesheet for all of the websites on the subdomains and I have this in the main domain folder. I have set the path relative to the stylesheet as follows ...
link href="../substyle.css".

This does not work on the subdomains because they are not recognised as being in the path relative to the main domain.

If I set an absolute path to the stylesheet (link href="http://www.themaindomainname.com/substyle.css" everything works on the website but when editing the stylesheet Dreamweaver issues errors and warnings about it not being in the website. Presumably this is because it (rightly) sees the main domain as being different domain from the subdomains.

Is there any way I can set this up a path so that both the websites on the subdomains and DW can see the stylesheet? I think this is probably one of these really simple things that I just cannot see so I would appreciate any assistance.
