I have this strange DW (CS3) template problem that I haven't been able to find a solution for searching Webmaster World or elsewhere :(

I have a site that has been working well and updated with the help of templates. After some time the templates stopped updating the rest of the site. For some reason the template path reference had changed even though the site root seems to be the same in the site definition!

So the template reference used to look like:

1) <!-- InstanceBegin template="/templates/basic.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->

But when I create a new page and apply a template it now becomes (aware is my site name):

2) <!-- InstanceBegin template="/aware/templates/basicWithBoxes.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->

The local root folder is still D:\webdesign\AWARE\ so the catalog \templates is still in the root of the site.

When I try to update the site files with the old template refrence (1) - nothing happens. When I try to update with the new reference (2) all the files are found and DW attempts to update but I then get the error message:

Error accessing file "D:\webdesign\AWARE\aware\templates\basic.dwt": bad file path (error code 3)
Very strange! Does anyone have any clue what this could be? I have tried to empty the site cache and so on...

Yes, It definitly won't work with that reference. I can think of many reasons for this happening, because I've done them myself. Like, a misdirected search and replace or, somehow moving the directory and then back again...

Anyway, probably just do a search and replace on all file to change it back.

I finally found the problem! There needs to bee a capital T in Templates for all references even though my folder is named 'templates' and not 'Templates'.

Like this:
<!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/basic.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->

Maybe this could be of help for some one else :)
