does setting up an ftp site in dreamweaver cache the files?

i have two versions of the same website, a beta and a live one, both set up as separate ftp sites in dreamweaver.

last night i moved some new files from the beta site to the live site, using an ftp program.

this morning i did some changes straight to a page on the live site (using dreamweaver), and saved it to the server, which also uploaded the dependent files. ive just looked at my live site, and the dependent files it uploaded were the old ones, from before i used the ftp program last night.

i'd had dreamweaver open since before I used the ftp program to copy the files across. am i right, did dreamweaver still have a cache of the old files? does it even have a cache when you set up a site as an FTP site? maybe i did something else wrong...

its dreamweaver 8 btw.
