How do cut out the gap between my left (shared border) and my index content (shared border) Try just about everything

If you're referring to FrontPage shared borders [google.com], the standard advice is not to use them. The preferred method is to use Includes [webmasterworld.com].

Have you looked at the HTML and styles applied to the affected areas? It might be possible to apply a CSS fix.
