A site that was transferred to a new host had a .htaccess file that shows up on the remote view, but not locally. Strange. The reverse is usually true (shows remote but not locally).
In Dreamweaver I am not able to see the .htaccess file anymore. I had been able to see it in Dreamweaver in the past and have DW set as the default handler for .htaccess files. I can see it in Windows Explorer in my site folder, open and edit in notepad. I'd like to ftp the new .htaccess file to the new server using Dreamweaver. Anybody else ever have these files disappear in Dreamweaver only? Know how to get it back?

OK well, duh. That was easy. For some reason the file got marked as hidden (desipte having "show hidden files" turned on). Right clicked and there it was - that mean old check mark hiding my files! (shoots self in foot then tries to walk a mile). All better now.
