A strange meta tag: META name="verify-v1" what does this mean? Lorel msg:3023463 1:31 am on Jul 27, 2006 (gmt 0) Can someone explain what this meta tag does?
<META name="verify-v1" content="/JBoXnwT1d7TbbWCwL8tXe+Ts2I2LXYrdnnK50g7kdY=" />
This was placed on a new client's site by their previous "SEO" person.

That's one of the verification elements used by Google Sitemaps. When you sign up for Sitemaps you have to add that element to a root page to demonstrate to Google that you're the site owner. So there is probably a Sitemaps account for the site, if you haven't found it already. Lorel msg:3024457 4:15 pm on Jul 27, 2006 (gmt 0)
Thanks much! Jim Catanich msg:3035123 6:59 am on Aug 5, 2006 (gmt 0)
But it should be on the home page only. glenng msg:3037462 4:42 pm on Aug 7, 2006 (gmt 0)
Found the same thing within meta tags - how will this affect a site, when it appears on interior pages in addition to the homepage? g1smd msg:3062007 10:25 am on Aug 27, 2006 (gmt 0)
No effect, I would expect.
