transparent region in a gif image

Hello
I would like to know how I could define a region in a gif image in which trasparency was applied. All this using fireworks.

Well, was going to try to help you, if I could get an idea which you meant, but you're welcome for whatever.

I just had to erase the white region of the picture with the eraser to make it transparent. Thanks
