I'm just starting to break into the freelance world and was wondering what software people use to do initial design comps for their projects. Illustrator? Photoshop? Fireworks? Corel? Something else? Why do you use the one you use?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld miniSite.

PhotoShop Elements can be an affordable alternative if you can't afford the full version.

Welcome miniSite

Most professionals I know use photoshop. Gimp is a good free alternative also.

Does anyone have much experience using Illustrator and/or Fireworks? I've mainly been using illustrator for my personal projects. Just wondering what people use and why you prefer what you do.

Also, thanks for moving it to the correct forum. Wasn't sure what the best place was for this question
