nope, it just highlights or un-highlights the layer in the layers window. does not put a selection about the object.... not on a Mac either.... i wonder if they removed that shortcut.

Make sure Auto-select "layer" is checked at top of window.

Tony, You need to click on the thumbnail in the layer window, not the part where the name is, on a Mac it's command-click.

aha...! perfect... i think i was clickign on the name... not the icon... although i swore i tried that... yes, i was using a Mac too... thanks
