Your best bet is probably a flash derivative - You can embed MP3's into the SWF. Flash is the most widely suported 3rd party software + the options for creating/customising a player are limitless.

Yep, look more specifically for a XSPF player that can played mp3 from a playlist (usually in XML) for different URLs.
Nice and clean !

Can the above be done, but when you click on the song an adjacent window populates with the lyrics as well?
I have a MP3 player is populated from an XML Playlist in place already, but i'd like the added function(and code) to have my own lyrics populate as well, so the user can reead the lyrics of my songs... I stress my songs, because I do not mean pulling from a lyrics databad online, but rather from an XML Lyrics playlist.
Any ideas? Thanx!

I ended up using JWPlayer.
When someone clicks on a song title on my site, they're taken to a lyric page, and the song starts playing.
The JW site provided all the necessary code -- was able to integrate it pretty easily.

Hey, thanx for that! I bet you were surprized to see your post resurrected after so long eh? :)
I will check out their site. Do you have a site that i can look at for an example script as well? I know we can't post here, but i'd love to be able to see if possible, in case i get stuck....
Glad to know something works.
I wonder if i can use another player with the same code logic. Instead of JWPlayer, i ended up using MP# player with XSPF from bezzmedia, seems to work ok, but the flash loads a title for iron maiden first that i can't get rid of so i may go back to JWPlayer...

Have you seen the player on last.fm? Thats a pretty neat component for player MP3 files. You can also show multiple tracks and let the user select the files to play

No publicity, but you could also use the widget offer by Blip[dot]fm.
It is new and become very popular as it is twitter-like.

Do these players show lyrics as well/ That is the catch for me. I have seen and used many players and they all seem good in their own right, but I haven't seen one in which the user can select his OWN lyrics, either from an XML Playlist or the like.....
