Getting away from form error icons that "yell"

I'm finishing up graphics for a site with some pretty intense forms and I'm trying to decide on which route to take for the form error icon that is displayed when an input is not provided or is given in the wrong format.

I'm really sick of the triangle icon with an exclamation point in the middle. Whenever I see that graphic I hear someone yelling, "Fix this stupid!" and I'd rather deliver the message in a softer tone.

Perhaps I'm overreacting, but nonetheless, what do you use for a form error icon? Anyone have any ideas for more friendly form error icon?
