Metadata issues with graphics (not strictly web graphics!)

Hi all,

Just a quick one - basically I need to be able to read IPTC metadata on a Windows system. For example if i have a file that I add IPTC metadata to in Aperture (MAC OS) I then can't read that when I go into the properities of the file on a Windows (XP) system. All the EXIF information (on the picture, camera, author etc) is there.
The main field I need to be able to view / search on is 'keywords' - there is a keywords field defined in IPTC, and in the file properties in Windows there is also a 'keywords' but it seems they are not the same.

Does anyone know of an add in to Windows to allow it to read IPTC data, or alternatively a way of bulk converting the IPTC fields to their Windows equivalents?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers
Rob Young.

Hi Rob, Do you have access to Photoshop? If so you can add IPTC data (and other meta info) using the doc info tool in the file menu - this will be maintained across platforms.

It will also let you save metadata templates and apply them to batches using the meta palette.
