Becoming a youtube partner

I had a couple of videos to upload so I created a youtube account and at the top of the page there is a 'monetize your videos and grow you audience, become a youtube partner today' popup button. I was under the impression that not everyone was accepted to the partner program and that it took some history because you could join.

If I click on this particular 'accept' button will I be a partner instantly or is it an application and I will be reviewed? I don't really plan on posting a lot of videos so if it's an application I'm not likely to sign up but if it's instant or guaranteed... why not.

I did click on it and the result is a long 'enable your account for monetization' agreement that I must accept. I haven't done so yet.

Also, Google seems to think I've been a 'member' of youtube for years even though I've only had a Google account for years, not a youtube account. The date and standing information suggests I'm old as dirt on youtube? Certainly my account appears to be old compared to most I see on there even though I just signed up for youtube today. I don't get it.

From what I remember it pretty quick :)

Google seems to think I've been a 'member' of youtube for years even

I log into YouTube with my Google Account anyway?

when you are accepted you can click the "monetize" button on your videos in video manager, each click will show in adsense as "AdSense for Content Host" the CTR is typically higher but the actual revanue is a lot lower :)
