no associated orders

Yesterday I saw a 15x spike in clicks on the Display Network for ad groups that target based on Interests and Age. There were no associated orders. I called Google and asked about click fraud but they said the placement report from yesterday isn't available yet but that the spike was likely due to settings changes made by advertisers. Sounds like click fraud to me. I'm pausing those ad groups. Any thoughts on this?

I noticed similar things happen, and a few days later there were adjustments. Because of the delay between the event and the adjustment it was difficult to know for sure.

Given the recent discussions (9 pages) [webmasterworld.com...] in the AdSense forums, it looks like a recent uptick in botnet or scraper activity that throws the stats way off for them, you could be at the other end of some of that.
