|Should internal links on landing pages be new tabs/windows?|
| 6:00 pm on Apr 14, 2013 (gmt 0)|
Is there any agreement as to if internal links on landing pages should be target=new or if they should open replacing the landing page?
If you use a target=new, I would think that
- You can better track landing page results
- Users might get confused/annoyed by the additional tabs/windows.
I suppose analytics would be somewhat helpful in that you can see the paths through the landing pages and see if the users ended up on some other 'request info' page other than your landing page.

IMHO, all links should open in the same window.
The target attribute was created for frames, not for web designers to manipulate how links are opened in regular pages.
Opening a link in a new window/tab will,
-as you said, create confusion
-create an accessibility issue
-annoy those who have popup blockers installed
