My campaigns have had average bid prices increase and average position decrease since last Thursday. This is a very stable campaign with years of history.
Is it possible that the Political campaigns have forced bid increases across the board?

No, probably not. Look at your search queries see if any of them are politically related. If so, add them as negative keywords. Also, if your average CPC has increased you may have a new competitor or current one raised bid prices.
