problems linking adwords and analytics accounts

Hi all,

I am trying to link an adwords and analytics account.

Both have been set up under different emails.

Let's call my adwords login aaa@gmail.com

Let's call the analytics login details I was given bbb@gmail.com

I have added my adwords email (aaa@gmail.com) login as an admin user to the analytics profile.

I checked to see if the analytics profile was previously associated with an adwords account and it doesn't appear to be. I am not given the option to "unlink" when I go to "edit account settings" in analytics.

However, if I use the analytics log in, bbb@gmail.com, I was given, to log into adwords (e.g. , there appears to be an old adwords account there, but when I click on analytics within this adwords log in, there is no account linked, so I am at a loss now.

Any ideas? It's doing my head in

did you make sure your GA login (bbb) is an Admin?

Hello,

Yes and yes to both posts. The fact that the bbb is an admin is puzzling me...

I would go over to the Google help forum and get some help from an AdWordsPro over there. I've on occasion had things get so snarled up from different user accounts that I had to have manual intervention to get it all cleaned up.

Hi,

I posted it up there too. Hopefully I'll get an answer...

smells like... your bbb login is not an admin for the old analytics account that's linked to this adwords account. so you can't unlink it, nor can you pop from the adwords acct into the old, linked GA acct.

I just don't understand it :(
I logged into GA using the bbb@gmail.com, and double checked that aaa@gmail.com is an "administrator".

This is the bit I don't get. When I log into adwords using the bbb@gmail.com, it's not connected to any GA profile, so therefore, I should be able to link the bbb@gmail.com profile to any other adwords account right?

I also see within the GA profile the following Adwords ID I do not recognise: "Cost source from Adwords for user 232-275-0282"

But I still don't get the option to unlink in analytics... ?

since the adwords account is linked to an old account, and since your bbb is not an admin of that old GA account, you don't have rights to break the link, nor do you have the right to jump from adwords to analytics, cuz it's the old GA account it's trying to take you to - and you're not an admin of that old GA account.

if the old GA has been abandoned, and you can't access it, contact G to have them break the link. they may tell you no, that someone needs to use the password recovery tool for that old GA account, to access it, to break it's link to your adwords account.
