Is AdWords "Billing Content Change" Email Legit?
May be legit but doesn't look it.

Received emails today from billingcontactchange-americas@google.com about confirming/changing billing details for clients who are on invoice terms.

Now, I checked the headers, and it *looks* like it might have come from Google. But the email itself looks kind of skeevy, and I'm not replying to it (even though I do need to make some changes)

If it *is* legit, suggest Google find a better way to communicate this - like through our account interfaces. There's been way too many AdWords phishing attempts, and smart account managers shouldn't touch it.

If it's *not* legit - then consider this a report of such.

Google doesn't send such emails. It's a phishing attempt.

What kind of frackin email address is that? Google, you should really know better than to do something like this. Especially with a spammy looking email such as the above. I sure as hell wouldn't touch that one either, it would have gone straight to the bin, if it made it past my junk mail filters.

Yeah, I agree, it's something they could, and should have done via the interface.

The phishers will have caught on to this by now and will be prepping their missives.

Thanks @rustybrick.

It's certainly not the way I'd go about communication of this nature. AWA, if you're still out there, you might pass this up the chain.

@netmeg not sure if this was the case for you but, the one i got was for an old account that hasn't been used in years (maybe 4 years, sold the business that was being advertised), I wonder if this was just an attempt to get some old accounts interested again?

No, mine came in for current accounts (just accounts that are on invoice terms and don't pay via credit card)

I got an email this morning telling me that my ads were not running because there was a problem with my AdWords account.

I don't have, and never have had, an AdWords account.

THAT one is a common phish.

(And is why email shouldn't be medium G uses to communicate on billing issues)
