Adwords Keyword Tool morphing into the Search Based Tool?

It looks to me as if the good old Adwords Keyword Tool is being (slowly) retired.

When I click [url]https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal[/url] I am redirected to [url]https://adwords.google.com/o/Targeting/Explorer?__u=1000000000&__c=1000000000&stylePrefOverride=2#search.none!ideaType=KEYWORD&requestType=IDEAS[/url] which looks very similar to the SBKT [google.com ]

This saddens me somewhat. I think there are some functions of the old interface that have not made it to the newer tool.

Categorization of results under broad keyword headings
Keyword suggestions from a specific URL
More than 100 results for a specific keyword
A trickier interface

Do you have an opinion on this change?

I've noticed that if I'm not logged into an account that is associated with an AdWords account then I get to use the KW tool. If I'm logged in then I get redirected.

Might use this tool in a different browser when you're not logged in.

Thanks for your reply eWhisper.

I see this thread has been picked up by a couple of SEO news aggregators and that a reply from Google has been received.

Google told me they do plan on phasing out the old tool for the new tool, but would not give me an estimated date for that to occur. It is my understanding that Google wants to wait to hear any feedback prior to making that decision.

I personally can't stand the new interface. It takes a lot longer to achieve what I want. The old one was very simple and quick.

I was using the old tool for some time today and suddenly I got the link to try out the new one. I prefer the old one.
